During the limited run of this imprint, Marvel and DC characters were merged together in order to create new ones such as Dark Claw (Wolverine and Batman) or Super Soldier (Captain America and Superman). While the Amalgam Comics imprint only had two limited runs, the aforementioned one in 1996 and a second in 1997, the idea of mixing together characters is nothing new or even uncommon to comic book fans. As such the founding idea behind Apex Comics is to once again create new stories by amalgamating characters from across different comic universes. It is my personal goal to make Apex a stimulating land where creativity and story telling can take priority, enabling you to render stories and events that could only have been dreamed of in previous comic RPs. In this universe, the mainstream continuities of DC or Marvel no longer apply; this is a world wholly built upon the ideas of players. Continuity that exists in this role-play will come solely from the sheets of submitted characters. I welcome you to a unique narrative opportunity to take any two DC, Marvel, IDW, Image, or Mirage Comics character and re-imagine them in a way that makes them pleasurable for you to write unique character to tell original stories with. Whether you're one for emotional drama or a sucker for physical trauma, the vast range of characters available could fit any genre or any purpose you could reasonably imagine. Want to mix Hellboy and Etrigan? You can do that. Did Matt Murdock's blinding lead to him donning the cowl of the Bat? You can do that too. The possibilities are endless Apex as you're able to take the best parts of two character's stories and mold them into something new. As a sandbox themed collaborative story, unlike that of a linearor progression-themed collaborative story, the goal of a sandbox is to allow you to craft character arcs, NPC casts, and almost assistant GM decisions that don’t contradict the other rules. The style of role-play was explained to me as an “interactive multi-author fanfiction” and the idea of this sort of concurrent thing is apt. However interaction, much like any role-play, is the bread and butter of the game; we don’t shy away from interactions, world-scale gatherings, and so forth. Our job in this role-play will be to set up events every so often but for the most part the GM Staff will do the same thing as the players in setting up our stories.

[SUP]T I M E L I N E :[/SUP]

[sup]An ever-updating list as CS’s are approved and events are mentioned or occur during the course of the role-play. This will be the best chronological fact-check database for the thread assuming we don’t attempt to compile these into a proper wiki. Any questions should be directed towards us if things are not clear.[/sup] ~T.B.D.~

[SUP]F . A . Q . :[/SUP]

Is this an original universe superhero RP?
The answer to this question is both yes and no. The world and characters in it are new interpretations of previously established characters and locations. As characters are creating by combining existing characters is can be seen as a fandom RP however the combinations and interpretations will be wide and varied making the RP have something of an original feel as well.
What characters are off limits?
You may choose any character appearing in the continuities that envelope Western comics books though the core of the game is DC/Marvel. You can include aspects of the Bruce Timm continuity, Wildstorm, the Cinematic Universe(s), and so forth. Characters from Dark Horse, Image, IDW, and similar prints will be accepted, but we will be selective about approval regarding such. Anything outside of these perimeters will be looked at by a case by case basis but are not recommended.
Can I make an original character?
You may not make a brand new character but you may combine any two characters* you wish to create a new one for this RP, [*Provided another player has not already been accepted using said character(s)].
If Played A is using Batman, can I still use Robin?
I will ask that players not get carried away with supporting casts in order to allow for flexibility and consideration towards new players. That said, if in the above situation Player B wanted to play as the Batman Amalgamation's sidekick it would be up to Player A. If Player B simply wished to combine Luke Fox with Falcon, I would ask Player A to consider it and if no agreement can be reached I will step in a mediator. Too many times I've seen these games turn people away because of massive sheets listing every character under the sun as a supporting NPC.
How many players are you looking for?
The RP is always open to new players.
Can I have more than one character?
It is requested that you start with one character and actively contribute to the RP. As each new character requires the use of 'two characters', I don't want to isolate new players because the first five players snagged all the A-Listers.
If Player A is only using Character X's alias but draws the rest of their attributes from Character Y, can I use the leftover attributes from Character X?
As with Legacy/Sidekick characters I would ask that you talk to Player A first and see what they think. If they're okay with it, I'd be happy to allow two people to share a character especially if that character has a wide history and numerous interpretations over the years. That said if Player A denies the request, I will only step in to mediate as a last resort. There are numerous characters with similar backstories and abilities that this really shouldn't be much of a problem.
Can my character be bad/evil?
Villain characters fall under the jurisdiction of the parent character. As such, it's up to the player whether you can apply as a villain. Furthermore, it is generally suggested that you avoid POVing a villain character as they are relient primarily upon interaction with their parent hero and as such are only good for short arcs. It would be best to ask if you could 'guest write' for a villain character.
Can my secondary character be evil?
See the above point.
Can I mix a villain character with a heroic character?
I would have evaluate this on a case by case basis. There's no way to answer this in general as some combinations would work where others wouldn't. Additionally depending on the villain they may fall under the jurisdiction of another Player.
If I have used Spider-Man but Player A has used Batman can I mix Joker and Green Goblin?
If the two of you agree to it yes but otherwise you have to use the antagonists provided by the two characters you've used to create your PC.
What's the plot going to be like?
TBA
