Are we truly alone in the universe? With approximately 300 billion stars in our galaxy alone, not to mention the very loose approximation of 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe, the possibility of life outside of earth should be surprisingly likely. However, nowhere in this description does it mention the intentions of these beings... If you couldn't tell from the title, this is about the Xenonauts and the game which it is based on. For those who don't know about the Xenonauts, it is a turn-based strategy game on Steam that is more-or-less the spiritual successor of the excellent and unforgiving original X-Com video game from 1994. The main difference between X-Com and Xenonauts is, while X-Com utilizes "cutting edge" technology in 1999 (relatively recent), Xenonauts takes place during the Cold War (first contact is made in April 1958 and the invasion begins in November 1979) when technology isn't as advanced and humanity is at an inherent disadvantage. Another major difference is that opposed to the obvious alien invasion tropes that made X-Com "X-Com", Xenonauts is rooted quite a bit more in realism and lore. (NOTE: I'm not saying one is better than the other; it's just my preference is Xenonauts.) Overall, I like the concept and I thought that it could make an interesting RP.
