Nero doesn't do direct damage at all.  His curses alter and debilitate.  In any straight-up fight, he'd lose quickly if not instantly.  Nero doesn't fight straight-up fights.  He seldom engages in any kind of fight.  In fact, in the course of this RP so far he's used a curse in anger exactly twice: once to make Prince vomit and once to turn Gabriel into glass, and both were really asking for it.

Nero chooses to be annoying with his magic rather than use it to try and be some cliche anime badass.  Magic fighting and badassery isn't what he's about.  I don't want to just have a fighty badass character.  If he were forced to use his magic in self-defense, there are very, very few people who could beat him, but he doesn't.  Funnily enough, the guy who's both a dark mage and a mischievous genie is one of the more responsible wizards in the Fairy Tail universe.

Hmm...stars falling. Good idea. But back up your words before they carry weight. =P Then again, this could all be hypothetical. You could chose not to have Nero show off his magic, and both walk away with no knowlage of the other.

And by hesitaint, I mean hesitaint to act. (Ie hesitate to start the fight) But once he commits, he goes all the way. (Basically, once the fight is started, gloves are off.)
