I think its not so much the slicing its the fact that wind slices can come from anywhere in any direction  instantly and cant be blocked by any conventional means. unless you want to make it like Robin's Elwind in Smash Bros where they are shot out like convenientonal projectile blades. (Forward instead of down obv)

And yeah the explosins are like Roys Flare blade except with a moderately bigger blast radius and not as much charging, obviously  not so big as to where he would damage himself. The sword doesnt always cause an explosion  its only if Dax chooses to channel energy  into the strike.
