Manned by an engineer and a fireman. Hard seats, no sleeping accommodations, no access to the dining car- you have to eat whatever you brought on board yourself.

Much pricier than Second Class, but also much more comfortable, luxurious even. These two cars have a little more privacy and semi-private berths/

A fully-stocked bar and sit-down service with a varied menu and professional cooks. Only avaliable to First Class passengers.

Pretty unremarkable car used for cooking, washing, and storage. Pantry and wine cellar are here.

Twenty soldiers of the 5th Cavalry ride here, their job being solely to protect the gold shipment.

Four steel safes with combination locks hold a combined 3620 pounds of gold, valued at one million dollars (that's 28.5 million in 2016 dollars, by the way). There is always at least three armed men on guard.

All the luggage not needed by passengers for the long trip is stored here.

A bare car with a few bunks and a small cookstove for the train's crew when they're off-duty. Legally, there is always someone on duty back here.
