Leviathan Nero Deep in the bowels beneath the Tower of Stars, a lone figure worked at a feverish pace. He stood at his workstation, the chair under him knocked aside by his frantic machinations. Holo-screens floated around him, each displaying an incomprehensible arrangement of code, calculations and abstractions. Simulations processed as quickly as the slave-processors assigned to the computational spell-engine would allow them to, each overclocked and overheating. A cloaked man tapped furiously at illusory keyboards and control panels, errant spell code swirling around him in luminous characters. Levi paid no mind to the smell of burning and electricity that surrounded him, as he had finally made a breakthrough, and would not allow this moment to pass by without taking advantage of it. The COR LEONIS, possibly the greatest of his many inventions, was a node of energy derived from something called a "paradox code." It was, in essence, a self-sustaining perpetual energy source. It functioned as a spell that through clever coding had essentially cast itself; it fed itself the mana it generated, and perpetuated without any outside interference. Its existence was a functional proof of "one plus negative one equals one." It was an overflowing Klein bottle; a mobius strip with three sides. The COR LEONIS was a miraculous achievement of magic and science, and if ever released would likely revolutionize the world. But it was not enough. Levi needed an energy source great enough to power a god, not a school science project. STRANGE AEON would require a charging period longer than the projected lifespan of the universe to boot up using the COR LEONIS. He needed a greater paradox code, one that drew from the well of eternity that fueled the expansion of the universe itself. Around the clock his automated spell-engines calculated, processed and simulated spell code that could possibly contribute to the divine paradox that he required. Levi compiled the data into proper spells in his waking hours, but he had been without success for over a year. But this... this had potential. This code could possibly be the paradox great enough to bring STRANGE AEON to life. Its structure was infinitesimally complex, but at the same time beautifully simple. Levi wasn't even totally sure that it truly existed, as it seemed to disprove its own existence through the workings of its structure. Levi worked quickly, yet carefully to compile the code, as he worried that the spell could zero-sum and write itself retroactively out of reality. Possibly taking a few laws of physics with it. However, he was nearly finished, and his processors screamed as the spell achieved stability. This was it; all of the simulations confirmed it. He had achieved another paradox code. Levi wasted no time congratulating himself. He archived the code on numerous backup drives, and immediately began to configure the code for energy production. This was a far simpler matter, and he had a make-shift experimental core functioning in minutes. He initiated the boot-sequence of STRANGE AEON's core systems, directing them to draw power from this temporary power source. Levi rushed to the hangar in his laboratory to watch his work unfold. Bolted into place like some manner of prisoner, the humanoid form of STRANGE AEON loomed far above Levi in the hangar. The huge power conduits connected to it sparked and surged, delivering charged azoth and phlogiston to the metal behemoth. The sequence took a few minutes, and all the while his spell processors continued to boil and fume from the monstrous complexity of the paradox code. Massive, metal fingers began to twitch. Eyes that shined like twin suns opened, swiveled about, and finally settled on Levi's minuscule form, far below. Then, all went dark. Levi's beleaguered spell processors had finally given out. From the smell, he figured that the had literally liquefied from overheating. With no more paradox code, there was no more power. In fact, all of the power to Levi's lab was out. He used GRIMOIRE to reroute the backup system to COR LEONIS, just to get the lights back on, and restored the illusion keeping STRANGE AEON's hangar hidden. It wouldn't be much longer, now. Until the machine god walked the earth, and ascended to the heavens.
