Cody's magic could put it out. Maybe the way to put it out would be to counter-flow it with your own magic to cancel hers?
At least that was how I viewed it. And her magic had the huge weakness of get wet=no magic casting.

Actually, for me, the strike against you was the Secret Arts. I can't say it's explicitly a Slayer thing, but you never see anyone else use it or anything like it.
