Black is a person molded by the belief that the strong will always be on top, however, he doesn't consider himself strong or weak, but something of a mediator between the two. If he sees someone weak, but rich, he will offer himself at a price double than normal, if he encounters someone both weak and poor, then he almost always kills that person and vanishes.

However, if the person is poor but, strong both in mind and body, then he will offer himself to help said person by doing doing one mission that will help said person to rise towards the power they deserve.

Money is his true drive however, having been raised with no money, he knows tk appreciate them. His greed is so strong that he would kill anyone or do anything if the sum is high enough. If someone pays him to kill a poor but strong person, then he will not hesitate to trample his own morality for the right amount of cash.

A very well known freelancer, Black's past is known only by him and he doesn't say it even to the most trustworthy person. As far as he remembers, he was in a orphanage in sector 17. It was a orphanage in shambles, barely being able to scrape enough money for the children living inside it. In his earlier years, Black didn't really notice the hardships and thought that everyone lived as hard as he did and didn't think past this at all.

However, one day, a very well dressed man accompanied by several rough looking men entered the orphanage and offered the owner an offer that he couldn't resist. He would buy the orphanage, renovate it and make sure that every child inside would get all they wanted and taught what they needed to know until they were ready to go out in society.

The owner accepted and soon the changes were obvious. Better food was given to them, better lodgings they were even given a proper education by several professors hired by the man who had bought the orphanage.

However, one day, a man came with a questionnaire and told each child there to pick the profession they wanted so that they would be taken to someone. Black saw only one that aroused interest, freelancer and the pay always differed from target to target. So he chose that... and that choice shaped his life.

He was brought to a woman with white hair. She called herself the White Tiger, ruthless and brutal assassin. For 5 years, Black was trained by her almost non-stop to become a brutal killing machine. After the training, he was given his first target, the head of a small gang operating in district 17, forcing the people to pay said gang for their "protection".

Two days later, the gang leader and every member of this gang was found dead in their hideout, all with an arrow in their head. He had passed with flying colors all tests. His mission, offered by White Tiger herself was the final test that would prove his readiness. Kill his benefactor.

He did so without a hitch, though to show some gratitude towards the man, he killed him without in his sleep, however, when he got back, no matter what the reason, he put an arrow through  her head as well.

Since then, he operated in all districts, except the reclusive district 0, killing anyone he was paid to. His weapons are two karambit knives and a powerful modified bow, his trademark weapons, however he is not below using guns.

Despite his apparent greed, James does often donate money to people he thinks are strong in mind to raise them from their miserable lives. He only keeps enough to buy himself ammo and new equipment of one breaks.

He often uses highly lethal poisons to kill his targets, however, when ordered to make someone suffer, he introduces on his arrows an array of non-lethal but very painful toxins.

He has a contact in each district(except district 0) to notify him if someone has a mission for him. Other than potential missions he maintains minimal contact with said contact.
