[hider=Bio]: In Clementine’s own opinion, her life before the military was uneventful. Knowing that so many other families had gone through similar traumas, she has never truly considered the events in her life to be overly significant, despite the feelings of loss that have stayed with her. Born to a single parent family in Shiganshina, her mother did everything in her power to make sure her children were well looked after, though this is not to say that they often had their struggles, being a single income family. Having three brothers and one sister made it extremely difficult, though once they all reached a certain age, they began to help in any way they could. The twins, the two eldest brothers, Isamu and Shou, soon found a calling in the military, and once they turned eighteen decided that it was time to enlist. Thomas, the youngest brother at sixteen years of age, and her even younger sister, Tai, at six, were left at home with Clem and her mother. Both Clem and Thomas found jobs at the market and worked hard to earn a suitable income. 

A few years later, by the time Clem was eighteen, things had stabilised, but the first tragedy unfolded when Isamu’s entire garrison was wiped out by Titans. He did not survive, and Shou was drafted into his position as a member of the Survey Corps. Their mother fell into a deep depression, and despite the efforts of family and friends to comfort her, she sank deeper and deeper into illness until it eventually claimed her life.

Only a few months following the death of their mother, Shou’s squad suffered heavy casualties during an effort to expand the military’s vision beyond the wall. In the consequent attack, he was crushed beneath a Titan and crippled, though his life was saved by the quick thinking of one of his peers – a medic. Now unfit for action, he was completely and honourably ejected from the military, thankful that his life had been spared. With work dwindling in the area, Clem and her younger brother struggled to find a well paying job, and she was soon left with little choice but to enlist with the military, blatantly refusing to let her brother follow her, even once he was of ‘suitable age’. Determined to make the absolute best of an unfortunate situation, she worked extremely hard, both in her combat and relief roles. She excelled through the ranks to become the sole medic of her particular team, and further tragedy was kept from her family.

When news broke of the second attack and the destruction of her home district, Clem immediately volunteered to lend aid wherever possible. Her family, having lived there all of their lives, were safely relocated to Trost, then further beyond Rose Wall, near Wall Sina, where their uncle and his family live.[/hider]

[b]Personality:[/b] Good natured, kind and reserved, Clem has never been especially outgoing or hyperactive in her life’s pursuits – though this was only until she joined the Survey Corps, where she soon found great enthusiasm in training to become a medic. Extremely loyal and hardworking, Clem knows when to keep her mouth shut, though this does not mean she will not question authority, or even royalty, [i]especially[/i] if the lives, or the dignity, of her squad mates are threatened. Clem considers her job vitally important, and will not hesitate to dive into the fray to lend aid to a teammate. She believes that if she is not putting herself in danger every day for her peers, then she has failed as their teammate. Because of this outlook, and her unwavering, daily effort on the battlefield, she has more than earned the respect and trust of her squad mates. Though generally optimistic, or as much as someone in her situation could be, Clem has seen more than her fair share of blood and dismembered body parts. She has ‘failed’ in reviving, healing or mending hers and other teams squad mates, and because of this, she has been known to distance herself emotionally from the new recruits, considering they are more often than not the ones that are wiped out first.

Clem acts as the medic for her team, having worked tirelessly to gain an impressive knowledge of the human anatomy and the most effective means in which to deal with bodily injuries. If the situation calls for it, and it often does, she is also equipped to deal with the psychological and mental trauma that her teammates may suffer. Though she does not apply this outside of the battlefield, such as inside a clinic, it has leant her great aid in inspiring injured or mortified teammates to come to terms with what is happening around them, making it easier for her, and others, to retrieve and extract them from danger. If need be, she also acts as a supply runner when her medical skills aren’t needed - though this does not happen often. As a fighter and user of the 3DMG, her swiftness and quick-thinking is paralleled by only a few, and she can hold her own against a small group of Titans at a time.

[hider=Bio]Though mystery seems to surround her persona, Pia’s origins are humble – having come from a calm, homey life, her world was not one filled with scientific experiments and government intrigue. Her father stayed at home to write memoirs and historical documents, whilst her mother was a member of the Military Police, and despite the faction being notorious for its ‘anything goes’ policy, the woman was anything but a drone. Humble, brave and hardworking, she changed the general perception of her own squad one person at a time, proving not only to Recon Corps just how hardworking they could be, but to her superiors as well, which helped her to excel to a comfortable position on the chain of command. Blessed with the good name of her mother, Pia took on many of her ideals, one of them being her consideration of others, which led to her helping around the city wherever work needed to be done, sometimes bringing in a wage, sometimes not.

She was well loved and encouraged to follow her own pursuits, but not more than her brother, Gar. Her father dotted on them both, but Gar was special, being the only son, and though he was encouraged to find his own way, there was a small amount of pressure on him due to his desire to become part of the Military Police like his mother. He did so, without a hitch, once he successfully completed his training, leading Pia to become enraptured by his tenacity and his position near their mother. Having been extremely close all of their lives, he would often take her sight-seeing or out on the town whenever he was off duty.

When the wall was breached, she was estranged from her brother, whom was off duty at the time with her and her father. They had been visiting a relative in Trost when the town was decimated by Titans, and her father was crushed to death in the ruins of the home. The siblings became reunited briefly, but only for a moment when he threw her down suddenly, into an alcove of rubble, where he was snatched up by a ten-meter and ripped to pieces in front of her. Not long after, Pia signed up for recruitment, aiming to join the Survey Corps should she succeed, and break her family’s small chain of succession into the Military Police.[/hider]

[b]Personality:[/b] Pia is a stranger to those around her, especially to the recruits. Preferring solidarity to the welcoming arms of some, she avoids forming relationships with others as much as possible - making her introverted and an outcast. Seeming to glide through objectives with ease, she still manages to keep her head low to avoid recognition, finding personal fulfilment more important than communal gratitude. Though she is determined to excel, she will not use others to get there, and will not sacrifice herself for the fulfilment of another’s objective. Though she will speak her thoughts, she is not forthcoming with her opinion, nor is she aggressive when voicing it. Open displays of emotion as considered surprising to those lucky enough to witness them, and despite her outward personality, she is full of deeply concealed passion and a great appreciation of nature and the world around her.
