Ha, yes -- I didn't consciously plan it, but it's what they call a [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foil_%28literature%29]foil.[/url]  Usually that's between characters (we have a few of those going on here,) but in her case it seems to work on the setting as well.
