[@Ashifili]  He handles a variety of less dangerous and less profitable tasks that would take humans a little too long or be too boring for the more adventurous.  So, his position could be described as something like a commissioned scribe/messenger.  He's working for the guild for his own reasons and does what work suits him.  Such work simply happens to be plentiful.
