Maleficent paused in her tidying when she heard Mel confess about the source of Kili's injury. "It was you?", she asked aloud, until she pondered. "I did try to stop that arrow, but apparently, I thought that the Morgul arrow actually hit him. I was ashamed, guilty, for not protecting him", she softly admitted before looking back at Kili. "At least it was just a regular arrow, and not something more", she exhaled before looking at Mel. "He and his brother opened my eyes for the first time. All my life, I didn't feel ready to watch children, not in personal. Their mother trusted me, and she gave me her blessing to watch her two boys. Bilbo tried to quietly sneak past the sleeping Smaug, but the dragon awakens. Quickly, the hobbit uses the ring to turn himself invisible. "Well, thief...", the creature growled as it took a sniff. "I smell you. I hear your breath. I feel your air. Where are you? Where are you?!", Smaug looked around to find the intruder.
