One idea I had was that the story recap picks up after the group takes care of the large horde of dead that had attacked PL. When Ravenia gets the children to spill about the secrets that Cypher had planned for her people, she sends out a search team. Unfortunately, this was the Trojan Horse that the Russian had been speaking of and the team is captured. 
The Cypher group makes it to the PL gates with the captured team, Mad Max-style.
He offers a trade, Ravenia for the group. In her martyrdom-style of thinking, she agrees to the trade. 
The group is returned almost fully intact and Ravenia is then taken hostage where he strings her up and whips her bloody.

There will be some sort of catalyst that sends the two groups into a major war. One thing I had in mind is that somebody from PL runs out to Cypher to beg him to stop and he kills that person, sending Ravenia in a frenzy. She manages to break free of her restraints and drags Cypher into the shadows. This causes the two sides to break out in fighting. In fact, the continues on for nearly 3 days when Ravenia slowly reemerges from the shadows, bloodied, carrying Cypher's head in my hand. That causes the fighting to come to a standstill as Ravenia announces that she will kill any man who stands against her in a minute.

That was something that I've been thinking about.
