With the exception of the massive population loss from unrestricted nuclear warfare and Russia's massive tank army breaking down in droves (see ww2 to Geogrian conflict)

Maybe in this alternate timeline, they stayed in ww1 and won it entirely!!! Annexing huge swaths of land including Germany..

Or or or, Germans in ww2 fail super hard and Russia takes them out by 1940, then invades Japan and France (using the guise of Vichy France being nazi controlled even after the war ends) omg, I really really like alternate possibilities :)
