”The ‘Outside World’, Eh? I’ve never been but my father went a few years ago when he was looking for-” Edric cleared his throat. ”Ah, anyways, he came and complained for a solid month about the president of, ‘America’ I think it was. I didn’t really pay attention, but he did bring back a bottle of Dr. Pepper.” He smiled fondly, remembering both the drink and his father’s ramblings. Then, as he thought about his father’s trip to search for his mother, he began to remember the pink-haired woman. The one who looked exactly like his mother. He turned to the redhead, Katherine and spoke. ”Excuse me, but you’ve been here awhile, have you not?” He didn’t wait for answer as he dug he free hand through his pocket. He made sure not to shake the girl he was partially carrying. He was surprised that he managed to fish the old, leather wallet from his pocket without slowing their seemingly never-ending procession towards the infirmary. He deftly flicked open his wallet with his free hand and withdrew the only picture of his mother that he owned. It was a simple portrait of his family. His mother caught mid-laugh, facial feature masked by a glare of light when the picture was being taken. Jason Karst, Edric’s father stood inches from her and held a newborn Edric, he was also laughing. Edric was in the picture, though he was wrapped in so many blankets that he was unrecognizable. He awkwardly bent his arm to show Katherine the picture without moving his head away from their path. ”Does the pink-haired woman look like anyone you know? I, uh, saw someone around here who looked like the woman in the picture and was wondering if you knew her.” [@Theobromine][@chukklehed]
