Okay, I think I'm forming a more coherent idea here. Perhaps he's quite an old vampire who's already come to terms with his place in the world. I can see him having served his kingdom for a number of centuries, and holding a position of high leadership in its military ("Lord-Commander" has such a nice ring to it). An extremely experienced warrior and leader, and the veteran of hundreds of campaigns. Book of Blessing magic is a good idea, and I was already going with the idea that his armor conceals his true nature (I'm thinking a golden mask, sort of Kingdom of Heaven-esque). Among the high nobles and military officials of his kingdom his nature would be known, but a well-kept secret from the majority of the populace. His dark nature is kept well at hand, but it's still a constant battle that tests his willpower even to this day. What do you think of this?
I like it. Although you might want to change the or come up with an explanation that the higher ups would give to people when asked how one seemingly mortal man could stay so young for seemingly ever. One idea I had is that it could pretend to be a zealous devotee of some "good" god like the god of life or sun or something like that when in reality its a "dark" god that's keeping him alive through almost-force worship. Part of his development could be choosing wether or not to stay with the dark god or put his faith in the good gods. It would also be interesting since you'd have all the younger, novice squires and knights looking up to this guy who they hear is such a zealot and never misses a worship or prayer mass or something like that while still being an excellent warrior. Anyways, Imma about to pass out so bed time for me :lol
