Despite how crazy everything had started off, everyone seemed to be eager to do their part. He wondered if this was just temporary bliss or if things would always be this easy-going. Only time would tell. “Well, now that we have our first assignment, I’m gonna head on out. Got a few things to look into before this whole team business starts.” He turned to their new ‘leader’ and gave her a small salute and a wink. “Ditch.” He put on his earbuds as he walked toward the door. He took a last glance back at the room. An actual team of vigilantes. This is really gonna get interesting. Omega stepped out into the night and the once again stale air. He was glad the air inside wasn’t as bad - a little dusty, but that’ll clear up in time. It was completely dead, save for some trash blowing in the night breeze. Even the streetlights were out in the immediate area. Ditch sure picked a nice spot for a hideout. He instinctively picked a direction and started walking. The place he was headed wasn’t far - just over the river. As he started to get into more residential territory, he ducked into an alley and made his way up to the rooftops via wall sprint. Traveling on higher ground usually meant less obstacles, and Manny didn’t feel like running into any problems. He cruised the rooftops letting the music guide him and determine his pace. The cool air felt nice on his skin after being in the stuffy auditorium, though he did feel a bit grimy from the dust. He’d get a shower later when he got home. Omega reached the edge of the neighborhood near the bridge and looked out at the river. There wasn’t much traffic this time of night and the water looked like black glass. The lights from the bridge and the starry sky danced on the rippling surface. It was kind of beautiful compared to where he was headed. After his brief moment, Omega continued down to make his way across the top of the bridge. The dark clothing along with the lateness of the hour kept him from being too conspicuous. When he reached the other side, he quickly returned to the rooftops. He was now in the older part of town, where the buildings are more brick-and-mortar and the architecture more gothic. He travelled until he came to a condemned building that appeared to have been destroyed by fire. The sight of it brought a sudden sharp pain to Manny’s soul. He didn’t usually get this way, but, truthfully, the feelings were overdue. He sat silently as he studied the charred remains. The structure was actually still intact, but the inside was extremely damaged. Flashbacks of flames, smoke, and screams flooded Manny’s mind and he clenched his fists. Another flash of Manny’s badly burned arms and Ellis’ mangled legs. And yet another of a hooded figure with flames covering its hands and its eyes glowing bright red. By this time, tears started to well in Manny’s eyes as he sat still as a gargoyle, peering down at the scene of his brother’s injury. “I will find you.”
