[@SoleAccord]This isn't the "living in chains" kind of enslavement. From the very beginning of Galatec's invasion, it's always been about controlling people without strict force. The food and water has additives that removes your will to fight. The environment is designed to instill a psychological obedience. The very light itself (an important detail to keep in mind) is made of wavelengths that cause pacifism in the human brain. And let's not forget how they were able to successfully invade to begin with: All of their products were designed with this in mind. So there is room for a life outside of "wake up, get whipped digging rocks, go to bed," even if it's one that completely lacks any freedom or independent will. It's very much John Carpenter's They Live, only instead of hiding the aliens are out in the open and lording their status over us, and we're totally ok with it because our minds have been tricked into thinking that it's ok.
