I really expect others to not go around killing all the other students really, Do expect fights to break out between people, but I don't think someone's gonna spray 100 bullets at someone's head, I'm willing to be loose with certain things, but I don't want someone to suplex someone into concrete or actually spray 100 bullets at someone's head and won't accept a post like that happening.
But that still leaves ambiguity in combat. I can understand a hall fight, where someone grabs someone else or shoves them, because two players can finish it in like two posts using their character traits, but you mentioned arena combat between Seniors. If I have a gun and they have a sword, it's not going to be easy for us to sort things out. Example- Player 1: I fire at (P2)'s head, then jump behind cover. Player 2: I dodge the bullets and throw a knife into (P1)'s leg. Player 1: (You can't dodge the bullets, I have super accuracy) Player 2: (You can't hit me, I can slow time) Player 1: (You didn't have time to use that. Bullets are faster) Player 2: (Slow time can be used instantly even against bullets. etc. and now you have a bunch of wasted turns. Suggestion- Player 1: (attempt) Player 2: (attempt) GM: (outcome) so, Player 1: I attempt to fire at (P2), aiming for the head, then I attempt to move to nearby cover. Player 2: I attempt to use my Slow Time power to dodge the bullets. I then attempt to throw a knife at (P1)'s leg. GM: (P1) fires at (P2), hitting them in the chest three times. (P1) ducks behind cover, but it hit in the leg by a knife thrown by (P2). or GM: (P1) fires at (P2), but (P2) slows time and evades the bullets. (P1) runs for cover, but (P2) throws a knife, missing (P1) by inches. or GM: (P1) attempts to fire at (P2), but the gun jams. (P2) throws a knife, hitting (P1) in the leg. The GM is the final authority, so combat will be easier for players, because they won't have to call the outcome into question.
