By touching a solid mass, he can opt to create a portal directly through it, completely removing the space between those two portals. Moving through walls becomes a breeze. Even huge blocks of concrete can be affected by it. The density doesn't matter, providing the mass itself is solid. Anything that passes through the portal increases in velocity, which Ciaran exploits dramatically. More often than not, enemies who chase Backdoor through the portal had wound up getting a heavy cane to the face, a stun-gun attached to a heavy cane to the face, or even worse, the entire Covenant waiting beyond. PRT Rating: The power isn't strong, but it is versatile. The PRT saw fit to assign a Breaker 3 rating.
Backstory: Ciaran’s father was an internationally wanted crime lord. As such, his upbringing involved a lot of running around, being dragged out of bed in the dead of night to be carted off to the next safe house. When he was 14, his father held up in a factory, holding the workers hostage. To his horror, he watched a bullet bore through the skull of his father, killing him instantly. Ciaran was told he’d be taken into care, but in truth he was institutionalised. Two years of hell ticked by, until he showed up. The Most Powerful Man In The World. The staff put the two together under the guise of socialization, to help treat the inmates.Ciaran saw him as a father figure, and Gubbins took the boy under his wing. This progressed for four years, until one day, Gubbins didn’t show up, someone else in his place. Upon inquiring, Ciaran was told Gubbins has been successfully treated, and had left. All the feelings he had once felt washed over his at once, and he triggered. He triggered, going off to find Gubbins, through the nearest wall. He wandered, lost and alone, until Sickle-Cell found him. Kingmaker assured the man that Ciaran would be a vital ally, but his aid came at a price. That together, they track down his old friend. Sickle decided the best possible cape name for the man was Backdoor. Personality: Backdoor is psychotic in many ways. Every outfit he now wears holds a court jester theme, some often flagrantly flamboyant, or outright female. Various people have trouble determining whether he is male or female at a glance. Ultimately, he doesn't care, often playing up the idea. Every fight he enters, it is for no other reason than for a damn good laugh. The synergy with Gubbins is highlighted by the utter chaos the two cause when together. Ciaran prefers staying close to the man, but values the friendship offered by the tight-knit community of the Covenant. One crippling downside of this, however, is that he doesn't plan anything, letting the cards fall as they come. When fighting enemies as powerful as The Sisters, this can often cause serious problems, however just as often saves everyone. If you succeed, you may run on vertical surfaces and leap unlikely distances without making rolls to do so, until your next turn ends. If you succeed with style, you may instead gain these benefits for the rest of the scene. If you succeed with style, you get to invoke that boost for free twice. Laughing the reaper away. If you are taken out in a physical conflict, you may spend a fate point to concede instead. After you have collected fate points for conceding, you must spend a further amount of half of your fate points, rounded down. Coincidence conspires to keep you alive, and you pass from the view of the other combatants (such as by dropping off a cliff, apparently failing to escape from an exploding building, or the like). You may re-enter play in any subsequent scene in as dramatic a fashion as you see fit, explaining to everyone how you survived. You return with all of your physical stress cleared and a single additional consequence incurred to reflect the dangers you defied.
