I'm inclined to agree with Dawnscroll, because, um...
IIRC:

Lol @ Solembum (or however you spell the weird, shape-shifting cat-thing's name)
The story with Galbatorix struck me as cheesy
The weird girl (Angela, I think?) was weird and seemingly there for no plot reasons.
Saphira was exactly the sort of overprotective mother figure that I hate in stories of all forms.
The movie just struck me as so hilariously bad...maybe it's just how the wraith and Galbatorix looked, but something made me laugh the whole way through
Some plot twists (there's a giant, secret trove of dragon eggs!) had zero foreshadowing and just came out of nowhere simply to peddle the plot along
The secret name of the magic language that makes Eragon into a god was just...on some old stone tablet? That Galbatorix dug up somewhere? REALLY? Christopher Paolini (or whatever the author's name is) had the potential for something epic here, but it was just...that simple? And they had talked about it so much throughout the books...

To balance out that rant with some rare positivism, I really liked the Urgals. Everything about the Urgals as a race and their contribution to the story was compelling, but beyond that the only characters I really liked were the old elf and his similarly decrepit dragon. Can't even remember their names though, it's been a while :/
Oromis (?) and Glaedr.
Cheesiness is rather insidious and hard to combat. I like weird. I found it ironic that she took the role of overprotective mother when Eragon raised her. Haven't seen the movie but I wouldn't really judge ANY book series by their film adaptation. Well, one could argue that foreshadowing might have tipped off the baddies but you have a point in the spontaneous plot twist bit. That last one seems like a bit of an author troll. If it was on a tablet, who wrote it?
Not gunning for an argument.
