DNA bonding has its own form of risk. Given that ranger teams have been beaten in the past, should one of you die that tech should be able to be passed down. It can also be said that there is a method of wiping the DNA bonding through means the Mentor would know. It can be a good idea if you want to go that route. [@Kouki] I think reporting for duty is maybe more militaristic than strike team-like. This isn't a matter of duty, it's more like desperation--a need to break your world free from this passive slavery. Responding implies you are coherent and still with the team; you are ready to strike or defend if necessary. I wouldn't want this to feel like a duty thing.
