[@RiverMaiden] darkness poisoning is when a creature of light is exposed to a sudden large amount of darkness magic or gas stayed in the world of darkness for too long and as a result their body is rejecting it and us trying to get it out of the body

It is the same for creatures of darkness except they get light poisoning
