Well, I should probably get a CS up lol
But I'm thinking her basic back story would be that she comes from a group who are all magically able by the time they are... say... 10. Since I can't resist making things harder (and maybe more interesting) for her, I would say that her "power" whatever it may be, has never manifested itself (at least in a way they could tell) so she was kinda shunned by the community (which centers around how magical you are). Her mom is tough on her (and families live together for a long time, so she would remain a constant presence) and harsh, wondering why she was cursed with such a nuisance.

Thats kinda why she is fearful and somewhat ignorant (particularly of this legendary "monster tavern" Xp). She's never really been out of her community and they never really cared to teach her.
