[@KatherinWinter] It's really an act she puts on.  In truth Evelyn is very weak and vulnerable.  She's just using the tough girl act to scare others away because she hates who she is or what her parents want her to become, so she feels undeserving of friends or lovers.  And yes, her childhood is ripe with abuse, mostly from Chernabog, so alot of her darkest memories are of her father who secretly she fears.
