[@BlazeGamma] Azama was a real train wreck, because they didn't bother to localize him. He's one of the best Buddhist character in fiction, tbh, and if you aren't schooled in Buddhist philosophy, then he just seems like a total asshole. Buddhist philosophy maintains that suffering is a necessary facet of desire. Thus, the only way to prevent suffering is to not desire anything: love, friendship, status, etc. Presumably, a Japanese audience already has an education background on Buddhist tenets, so, culturally, Azama is less of an asshole, and more of a monk. Americans/Europeans aren't schooled in the intricacies of Eastern philosophy, so he just seems like a dick.
