[@RaeoftheLight]Sounds like you're really going to be digging deep for this guardian. I can't wait to see how it turns out :) 

Also, in regards to what the guardian really is... You can call it whatever you want really. Guardian, spirit, ghost, yokai. It's really all the same concept to me, just different places have different names for them and I do believe a kitsune falls under yokai xD
