The entire thing took place in only a minute or two. If you're not willing to entertain the possibility of retconning your godmodding out completely, instead only willing to make it 'milder and more mutually interactive', then there's no point in reasoning anything out. This curse is just something that so thoroughly disinterests me, and only has the potential to be an obstacle, not anything interesting. I'll just take it as it comes.
