a good friend of mine has been on the verge of suicide on numerous occasions because someone berates her, and millions of other people have gone beyond that because someone out there thought they were high and mighty until they took it to far
-_-' Sometimes I wonder if there isn't a more serious problem when it comes to internet harassment. The world has nasty people in it, and the Internet has given them a means to be nasty to whoever they want, whenever they want, as much as they want, anonymously. Sometimes they do it just to be nasty, but usually it's to get feedback. That is something no amount of administrator police work or perma-banning will fix. The only real way to deal with them is to ignore them or get away from them, and I get [s]really annoyed[/s] concerned when someone takes it to heart, to the point that they actually want to commit suicide, because that's [s]a bullcrap reason to kill yourself[/s] letting someone anonymous take control of your life. Look, good-friend-who-almost-committed-suicide-on-numerous-occasions: You do not HAVE to be here on the Internet. Get off the website that you're getting the trash talk from. If you have to, get off the Internet. I'm not dissing you for being sensitive; some people just easily take things to heart. I'm dissing you for [s]being stupid enough to want to kill yourself over an anon[/s] not being able to just log off. Some people get bullied IRL. They get picked on and harmed physically and a lot of the time it's at school where they can't escape it. This is the freakin' Internet. All you have to do to get away from the bullying is turn off your phone/laptop/PC/WHATEVER. Here, let me explain it just a little more clearly. All you have to do to not get bullied on the Internet: Get. Off. The. Internet.
