Exon
His brothers had insisted on coming. It seemed lately that Exon couldn't walk to the front door of his home without one or the other making an appearance. Usually both, as neither Atreyu nor Panitra wanted to allow the other any extra time with their little brother. Knowing that whichever he ended up favoring in the coming years would be the head of the family. And the other would be dead or worse. They always had alternative reasons of course. This time, it was: "Because little brother, what do you know of brides? You might pick one that breaks on the first thrust," "Ah, Atreyu, I don't think Ex knows about that part yet," It would have been pointless to argue otherwise, it would only encourage the conversation, so much to their disappointment, he shrugged. And they all knew that they were trying to win his favor, they just didn't want to say it. Mostly it was suffocating and left him longing for extended time away from home in the field of battle. But when the current head of house calls you back to claim a bride, you came. They arrived on time, very few girls were on the floor, yet both of his brothers jumped right into pointing out the flaws and desirable traits of every single Gem they passed. Usually making a point to have the girl surrounded on three sides as they did so. Granted, Exon tended to take everything with a grain of salt. Sure, both of his brothers wanted to be the one who spotted the bride he was grow to favor, yet neither of them wanted to help him find one that would actually be useful. Despite having over thirty years and 10 brides between them, neither of his brothers had managed to secure any heirs. It was mostly their own doing, neither one of them seemed to be very gentle with their belongings. Atreyu's current bride had had so many miscarriages that Exon was convinced she was finding a way to do it on purpose. Panitra was currently without a bride, as his last one lept from an unguarded window. They were looking for something pretty, fragile and temporary. He was looking for something that didn't seem like it was about to cry. Perhaps it was because he'd never been looking for a gem for himself, but the first one that walked out seem....like a possibility. His brothers both shot her down at first, pointing out the muscle tone and the tanned skin. Clearly she wasn't meant to stay inside like a good little bride and would be nothing but problems. But problems at least got out of bed in the morning. Ignoring his brothers he approached the girl. "Hey Gem," he said "Stop," ordering her to stop moving so he could look over her one last time before making his first selection. He circled her before a quick. "I guess you'll do," Exon took a hold of the girl's arm, before dragging her back over to his brothers. "Ex," said Atreyu, looking the girl up and down. "Come on, little brother, you should know that they send the bottom of the barrel out first. And you choose the very first one that comes out? I guess it is too late now, but don't worry, just you wait and see, we'll find you another one that will make you wish you would have held out for two," Exon just rolled his before glancing over at the bride who's arm he was still clutching. Deep down, he was...kind of excited to be holding the girl, knowing that she'd be coming home with him. That she'd be sharing his bed and raising his children. Then he remembered something that was...probably important. "What is your name?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at the girl. [@RomanAria]
