[/quote] I'm going to assume you mean unimportant when you say "irrelevant", so if hes still an actua Lord in that case he must be a Baron (or the immediate family of a Baron) at least. Given this is still the feudal period, each Baron would have his title tied to a piece of land... This means that there aren't infinite barons... In England there were probably fewer than 150, iirc...) And even they were fairly important, they formed parliament whenever the king called it after all Not to mention, if you are trying to appear irrelevant, flanking yourself with two massive men at arms is not a good way to do that :p Unless you are using it in the terms of "Lord of the manor"... But they would typically be knights and if they were not knighted they would be Gentlemen, not lords.
