Actually, neither. I'd recommend writing it like Kaivor just happened to see his paired character and decide to choose her (that's how everyone's writing it this go around) or, if your Gem hasn't posted yet, collaborate with them. For example, last thread we had some of the Gems chosen beforehand by relatives or servants/guards, so if you want (and are able) you can arrange something like that.

TL;DR just pretend it was an original choice by the character who just [i]happened[/i] to be arranged OOC.
