Skin Tone: Olive skin. Has a bronzed quality when tanned by the Sun. Tattoos/Scars/Piercings: None Personal Style: Alcander cuts a wiry but not unpleasant figure. His mane of wavy and unremarkable hair, along with his earthy brown eyes give him an unintimidating and approachable look. He has a fine nose that accentuates his youthful face nicely, and a fine chin to match. He never wants to look unpresentable, but he also makes sure that looks are never his primary concern, preferring comfort and ease over fancy appearances. His clothes are something he lives with, not something he uses to appeal to someone else. His most common outfit is Khakis and loose buttoned shirts that are easy to open up or take off if he's walking along the coast. His marel shoes are comfortable and sturdy, lacking shoe laces but fitting his feet nicely. The belt around his waist is leather and well crafted, a gift from his mother. He also wears something given to him by his father, an eastern orthodox necklace that's been passed down the family line for 3 generations. He keeps it hidden under his buttoned shirt.
Psychology
Thoughtful * Observant * Studious * Ardent Sexuality: Straight Relationship Status: Single Personality: Alcander is a very genuine and earnest individual. He believes in going after what you feel you should, and working for what you want. He values skill very highly, and honesty is his golden policy. The young man tends to believe actions speak louder than words, and often keeps his mouth shut unless he truly has something to say (or to be polite). Alcander knows that life is long enough to experience a myriad of things, and it's all about priorities and how you spend your time that matters. Because of his calm and observant nature, he tends to notice traits and hints in others more than one would expect. One moment he could be sitting quietly, maybe even pleasantly, and the next he could be adamantly defending a certain viewpoint he feels strongly for. He drives himself hard in his pursuits, and has a great deal of pride in both his heritage, and the skills he has learned over the years. Alcander has an interest in different cultures and languages, thinking the diversity and history of different places is what makes mankind unique. He feels a certain sense of belonging when he is learning or even rereading something interesting that brings meaning to his mind. He tends to be understanding towards people, despite being quite hard on himself. Others think him high maintenance when it comes to girls, but in truth he just wants one that is honest and doesn't spout bullshit just to have something to talk about. Habits: Alcander has a tendency to keep his hands in his pockets, and to run his hands through his hair when particularly anxious. He's a fan of them older Zelda games, and ever since he was a small kid, he would play the flute to greet the sunrise if he was up to see it. He kisses his necklace pendant before taking it off, always. After saving up money from his Mailroom job for nearly 3 years, he wanted to take one more gap year before he finished college. He felt like the time was right, wanting to experience more before he set out into the working world. He had a choice between taking a tour of Britain, or traveling to Asia and residing in India for a few months. As luck would have it, he had just begun rereading the The Ramayana and thought it made sense to try India. It was, after all, the more difficult of the two to get to. He felt like he could save up quickly again to go and visit the British Isles later on. History: Alcander was born and raised in Tampa, Florida to Nestor and Candice Mires. Both parents were of Greek origin, having married 4 years before his birth. His mother was a stay at home wife and his father served in the Gulf War in the army. Alcander was preceded a year by his big sister Barbara, and born before his younger brother by 2 years, Hagan. Barbara was the likeable overachiever, his parents often gushing over her grades and extracurricular activities. In turn, Hagan was the baby and often doted upon and given soft treatment. This led Alcander feeling both unimpressive and unappreciated, even though his father often gave him talks on how he was named after his father before him, from the old country. He gave him Greek mythology books as a small boy to read, though admittedly during Alcander's teen years he dropped the habit and pursued other interests such as Archery, music, and video games. His mother taught him to cook Greek cuisine, and his father insisted on teaching all of his children their native language. It did Nestor proud to realize Alcander began speaking it earlier than his other siblings, and that accomplishment bolstered Al's resolve. He began searching for things he could learn...skills he could acquire. Even later on in his teenage years, gaining friends who often saw fit to skip class instead of learning anything, he kept his resolve. He would go to after school fencing for two years, meeting up with his close group of friends behind the baseball fields or online playing games. He would get excellent grades in chemistry, his interest in the centre science branching off from old books on alchemy he would check out at the library. It was around his 16th birthday when he went on his first date with a girl named Sandy, but the relationship did not last very long. When he got older, he realized he only went out with her because he'd never done it before and she was cute at the time. It was just another experience to get through. He began to abhor things that would hold him back, like smoking. Things like that wasn't even worth his time experiencing, in his mind. He received his first job working at the local grocery store age 17 and worked there for a year. When he turned 18, he took a gap year and went to live with his cousins back in Athens, touring the museums and rekindling his childhood interests in the Classics. In fact it was just before he left for his trip that he found his old childhood mythology books, reading them once more and gaining a more mature understanding of the stories. Once he arrived, he spent a lot of time at Athens University, often staying and pouring over books for hours. It was in the center of Greece of all places that he gained an appreciation for Anglo-Saxon and Indian literature. He bumped into a certain librarian in Athens multiple times and mulled over the possibility of dating once more, but after having a few discussions with her, he decided against it. Once he got home, he attended the University of South Florida. He instantly made his major in the Classics, excelling in most of his classes of history and philosophy. He did almost as well in chemistry, but his initial teacher was notoriously tough to please. A year in, he got a job as the Mailroom clerk at the college. It wasn't a difficult job. He even had time to try out the Drama club, but thought it wasn't a pursuit for him. He kept in touch with his high school friends online, and two of them lived next to him at the dorm. He was their squad leader playing Battlefield 3 and 4 on weeknights. Weekends he initially went out, but after a few months he gave it up. He became notorious for not taking girls home. Not that he was popular with them, but the ones that tried he turned down. He didn't find drunken behavior or flirtatious small talk appealing. In fact it was a complete turn off, so he spent his Friday and Saturday nights by himself, watching movies or reading.
