I believe Al just believes everyone has some sort of shit. And someone being a baby is being a baby. Doesn't try to be [i]mean[/i] about it... Just comes off that way hah xD he still feels bad that Zac's having it rough though, and being a bit of a mother hen, is willing to go out of his comfort zone and belief to hold Zac's hand...
