While the idea is sound, I personally don't think one should over explain their character before the In Character even begins. Save some of the details till you can show them off with your character writing. I despise Personality sections for this very reason, as it's a lot different to say that someone is a certain way than it is to write someone a certain way.

Okay honestly (I know I hardly poke my head in here and I stay in PM until I have my character up but I'll make an exception here) I see where you want to know about characters ahead of time, but I think another way to put it Hillan's way is that we should give a general sense of the character, but we shouldn't try and define them and let everyone see (Including ourselves) just how our characters define themselves.
While I agree with the both of you that one should not over-explain their character and/or clearly define their personalities (I despise Personality sections as well), I do think that it is quite necessary to write something about how your character feels, because it's such a huge part of the roleplay. I/We don't need to know how they feel about everything; we just need to know how they feel about Gobi and their whole situation there. It's all fine and dandy that you want to get that out during IC posts and I encourage if not demand a lot of character emotion from people in a character-centric game like this, especially in the Advanced section, but these are things that could change the tide on whether we find your characters acceptable, as the reasons may not be plausible to us - like leaving everything you've ever known behind just because you're curious as to what's on the other side of the cliffs, without serious mental struggle about it. I hope I'm making myself understandable, because I'm honestly tired enough to sleep for days right now and my brain doesn't really function properly when I'm tired. I also can't English properly, so sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes in there.
