The Little Ulster makeover was done by one of Raptorman's alts (as Hound already said).  The Demon Invasion, as Fallen already has mentioned, was started by a player who disappeared in the middle of the event.  Also, he started it without GM approval, which resulted in us adding a rule about consulting us first before big events.  We were not intentionally trying to screw over your future storylines.

Also, I disagree that "retconning, ignoring, compromising" isn't a good thing.  Sure, there are some exceptions that come to bite us in the butt, but the majority of players who leave the game (especially without saying anything) [b]never[/b] come back.  We're playing the probability game here and usually we win.  Not always, but most of the time.
