Physical Characteristics of Males: Male and female Chli are easily recognizable as the same species, but there are notable difference. Furred creatures, the male Chli’s small, lemur-like, frame is usually covered in reddish brown to brown fur, with white bellies. All Chli are long and skinny, but males tend to be slightly shorter, standing up to around three feet tall. The male Chli also don’t have as quite a large tail fur wise, though both sexes are the same general length. Physical Characteristics of Females: As opposed to the earthy shades of the male Chli, the females don a grayish to almost green coat of fur. They stand at about three and a half feet tall, and have snouts that are noticeably longer than their male counterpart’s. Unlike humans, Chli mammary glands are not as pronounced, but still in the same area. Life-Span: 30- 40 years. Diet: Omnivore, but they generally stick to bugs and fruit. Racial Attributes: The Chli thrive in forests and jungles, and can really only survive in temperate climates. Although, they may be able to get by in hotter areas. The Chli are excellent climbers, and generally stay to the trees. They use their tails in a fashion that is very similar to that of certain monkeys, using their tails to hang off of branches and similar objects. Despite their size small, Chli claws are a forced to be reckoned with and potentially fatal to an unarmored target. The Chli don’t often use their claws though, as they are a peaceful race. As to their mental capacity, the Chli aren’t very bright, and part of the fact that they have survived as a species for as long as they have may be to the fact that their litters are very large. (Usually consisting of 7-10 infants, as opposed to the 1-2 an actual lemur would bear.) Age: Only 75,000 years.

Tribe Information

Lightning Summary: Chli settlements are not very unified, although they seem to all be bound by a moral code has not been written officially. All Chli villages and settlements are contained in the trees, each one a network of tree huts and rope bridges. The Chli have not seen the influence of another intelligent species in quite some time. This combined with their peaceful nature makes the idea of a military presence unheard of.
Technology State: Early Bronze Age State Government:

Matriarchal Gerontocracy
Each village has its own government led by a council of the eldest female villagers.
Brief History: In the beginning, the Chli, like many peoples, all lived nomadic lives. Moving from one area to the next, exhausting the land of its resources, and taking what they wanted. At some point or another, found that it was safer and more reliable to domesticate colonies of insects, rather than to eat them all at once. This practice also lent itself to the way they harvested fruit. Soon the Chli developed a unique form of agriculture, settling in areas where the rainforest provided them with abundant fruit, and using moderation to keep it that way. The next big advancement in Chli culture took form in the use of lumber for construction. The Chli are not capable to down an entire tree but, they are able to use branches that were separated with their trees via stone tools. As the amount of Chli increasing with amount of food available, the Chli were able to focus on how to keep themselves safe from predators. The Chli found that not everyone in their ‘pack’ had to devote their time to gathering food, and so they began building things. First nests evolved into tree houses, then bridges appeared to connect the dwellings. As the Chli continued to learn, the population continued to grow. Disputes arose and each village found there way to sort things out. In the end, having a group of the eldest woman in each settlement came out on top as the most popular fashion of government, all though there are a few exceptions.

Infrastructure Summary

Capital City:

S’rik

Known For: Fruit Cultivation

Other Major Cities:

Oiciri

Known For: Lumber Harvesting

Transportation Network Summary: The main form of travel is along the bridges, which will run for miles, but don’t go on forever. Inter-settlement bridges are few and far between. There are a few trails on the jungle floors, but they aren’t the safest or the most practical way of travel. Generally, the Chli will take to climbing through the trees if they are to travel long distances.
