While it may have used subtle - or not so subtle - Second World War propaganda technique in the episode's song, it's really something more like a general jab at cults in general, particularly the cult of personality. If you want to delve into actual Marxism then there's the line in Orthodox communism/socialism of "To each his own according to his needs, to each his own according to his abilities" where-in you could surmise that the individual isn't working for a grand equality and has to contribute a minimum without recognition of his needs or abilities, but contributes to himself and the community in proportion to his needs and abilities.

So really, without delving into the economics it's not communism so much as it is satire of Jim Jones and cults.

What does make the social-justice types angry is that it cuts down the philosophy that those greater than them deserve to be cut down to the lowest bar to make them "equal". It was more a tribute to [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Bergeron]Harrison Bergeron[/url].

Really, a lot of autocratic governments cover the same sort of principle of the nation or the ideology before the people. Nazism and Fascism was particularly strong in that area.
