I'm pretty sure you can work it in some how.
Probably be something of a more light-heared obsessive stalker type rather than "I love you so much I want to kill you and take your head on a world cruise" type.
Also, all their attempts of getting sempai to notice them would have to fail in funny ways.

That said, when the plot demands it, they can just serious and act as a sort of limit breaker/trump card for the team or something.
Just point them in a direction and say "that mother fucker hurt yo sempai" and sit back and watch.
