One thing that I feel I should clarify, just to get it out of the way now. 

Sophia's voice works fine. In fact, if she feels the need, or just feels like it, she'll make several different sounds (laughing, crying, groaning, etc.) depending on the situation. She just doesn't verbalize words at all.
