Eldarin halted at the distinctly grating sound of grinding stone, for a moment he thought he had stepped on a trap of some sort. The statue's head rotating was the second warning he received and just enough warning for Eldarin to turn the blade with his shield. The heavy sword smashing into his shield still hurt his arm but it was better than the weapon smashing into his head. Honestly it was more of a club than a sword considering its weight and bluntness but clubs still killed people. Eldarin was unsure of how to go about attacking a stone opponent so he quickly backed away further down the hallway while his opponent hopefully recovered its balance from the swing. If statues did that. Going for the eyes would likely do nothing, perhaps the stone was old enough he could chip away at it with his sword? He was reluctant to use the explosive amount of magic that would be required to do damage to it in such an enclosed space. If he saw a chance to strike he would do so, otherwise it might be best to flee further down into the temple. He didn't know how far the statue would chase him so that could become troublesome but if he couldn't hurt the statue he had little other choice.
