"Well, Wally is not under our care. As long as the man isn't abusive to Wally, we don't really have any room to butt into how is uncle chooses to raise him." Liam said. "I think that the man is making a mistake, but does have good intentions." Liam knew that it would do them no good to get involved in that mess and decided they should hurry up to the next gym. A white haired man wearing a jacket with lighting bolts on the sleeves was inside and introduced himself as Wattson, the leader. He said that in his gym, each trainer used four Pokémon.

Wattson started off with Voltorb. Liam called on Poochyena.

"[i]Voltorb, the Ball Pokémon. Voltorb was first sighted at a company that manufactures Poké Balls. The link between that sighting and the fact that this Pokémon looks very similar to a Poké Ball remains a mystery. Voltorb is extremely sensitive-it explodes at the slightest of shocks. It is rumored that it was first created when a Poké Ball was exposed to a powerful pulse of energy.

 "Sonicboom!" Watson called.
 "Dig!" Liam replied. Poocheyna was hit with the shock wave and then burrowed underground. 
"Swift!" Wattson called. The flurry of stars soared over and went down the hole Poochyena made, hitting the Pokémon. Poochyena then emerged from the ground and got a Super Effective hit on Voltorb. "Electro Ball!" Wattson ordered. The attack hit Poocheyna, who retaliated with a Shadow Ball.
 "Use Screech, Voltorb!"
 "Dark Pulse!" Liam called. Both attacks hit.
 "Self Destruct!" Wattson called. This resulted in a double KO. Volt orb was swapped for Magnemite. and Poochyena was swapped for Marshtomp.
 "Mudshot!" Liam called. It was a critical hit, which happened to KO Magnemite. Magnetite was swapped for Mantric

"[i]Manectric, the Discharge Pokémon. Manectric is constantly discharging electricity from its mane. The sparks sometimes ignite forest fires. When it enters a battle, this Pokémon creates thunderclouds above its head in battle. It rarely appears before people. It is said to nest where lightning has fallen.[/i]"

Liam recalled Marshtomp and sent out Grovyle. "Bullet Seed!" Liam called. the attack, which lasted for three waves struck the Discharge Pokémon.
 "Use Fire Fang!" Wattson ordered. The attack hit Grovyle.
 "Dragon Breath!" Liam called. Wattson ordered another Fire Fang, this one burned Grovyle. 
"Leaf Blade!" Liam called. with this Manectric was KO'd.


Manectric was swapped for Magneton, Watson's final Pokémon.

"[i]Magneton, The Magnet Pokémon, and the pre evolved form of Magnezone. Magneton emits a powerful magnetic force that is fatal to electronics and precision instruments. Because of this, it is said that some towns warn people to keep this Pokémon inside a Poké Ball and large cities sound sirens to warn citizens of large-scale outbreaks of this Pokémon.[/i]"

"Magnet Bomb!" Wattson called. The attack finished Grovyle off. Liam swapped Grovyle out for Marshtomp. Liam called for another Mud Shot. "Lock on!" Watt con called. Crosshairs appeared in each of Magneton's eyes for a moment as another one appeared on Marshtomp's belly.
 "Marshtomp, Bide!" Liam called. Marshtomp began to glow with a white aura, different from evolution.
 "Gyro Ball!" Wattson called. The powerful attack was a guaranteed hit due to the Lock on. 
 "Tri Attack!" Wattson called. three balls of energy appeared, each one above one of the three screws. Each one of those three balls of energy was one of the primary colors, having all three present. They all  shot a beam forward and hit Marshtomp.
 "Bide, Go!" A blinding blast of white light was launched and hit Magneton, KO'ing it. Wattson awarded Liam the Dynamo Badge.
