Lily Potter.
[sup]Written sometime in October 2011.[/sup]
A little fan-fiction I began writing about a character in one of my favorite series. Written in her point of view.. I always wanted to shed some light on what it was like when Harry's parents were at Hogwarts, and the relationship between Snape and Lily. They could have been the OTP (One True Pairing).

Walking the busy halls of the train station, I push my cart full of my baggage through the sea of busy people. I pass by a few of my classmates and wave hi but no one even gives me a glance, they just keep walking. I sigh heavily and continue pushing, my eyes wandering around as I gaze at everyone and everything around me like it's only my first year here again. It seemed such a short time ago that I was the little red headed muggle going to a witchcraft and wizardry school for children born from wizards themselves. Now it wasn't so uncommon to be a muggle-born witch or wizard, but it was still frowned upon in our so called society. My eyes set on the familiar pillar as the sea of people part, I get a running start at the pillar and-BANG! another cart crashes into mine. "Hey! Watch where you're g.." I begin, till I look up and see the familiar face. "Hi Lily," Severus lulls softly. His dark hair hangs low, just barely past his shoulders. He must not have cut it in a while. "Severus." I ditch my cart for the time being, walking around it and crossing the distance between me and my friend. I wrap my arms around him tight, closing my eyes as I bury my face into his black Hogwarts robe. "I've missed you." "I've missed you a great deal as well, my dear Lily." He slowly lets me go as we step back to look at each other. How we had changed over the last year. "Lily, it never ceases to amaze me at how beautiful you are." I blush at his words and look down for a second before returning my gaze back up into his eyes. "Severus, I-" "COME ON SNAKE! LET'S GET A MOVE ON! WE WANNA GET A GOOD SEAT!!" My head snaps up at the voice, knowing it all too well. James. James Potter. "James you need to-" "Let it go, Lily..let's just get our things." Severus gently touches my shoulder before letting his hand slide down, falling limply to his side as he turns away to get his cart out from my cart's way. I walk around to mine, grabbing the handle while daring a glance over my shoulder. James smiles charmingly and winks at me. I simply roll my eyes and smile a bit, peeking at the clock to check the time before running forward into the pillar. Only a moment of darkness before there is light again as I come out on the other side. The air is heavy with the smoke of the train, students handing their luggage over before boarding on, all of them looking like such conformists with their black robes and striped ties. Of course, there are differences, but only cause we all have been placed in our respective houses. As I make my way to the train, I can hear James behind me with his friends talking about their time away at their homes. I don't relate to them at all. Even though my parents and my older sister Petunia lived at home, Hogwarts was my home. "Lily, come on!" I look up to see Severus hanging out from a doorway on a cart of the train, smiling. How the heck did he get ahead of me? I shake my head, smirking softly as I hand over my luggage to the baggage man, stepping up into the train with Severus. Severus reaches down and takes my hand gently, though our skin is not touching, his gloves preventing that warming touch from happening. He leads me towards our usual seats, opening the door for me and allowing me to step in first. As he steps through, I reach over and gently shut the door behind him. As I pull up, we are both stuck standing in the middle of the isle between the two seats. I blush brightly and so does he. Neither of us make a move for a few seconds until I force myself to move out of the way, clearing my throat awkwardly. "Well, I guess we're in for another long-" I yawn softly, reaching my hand up, rubbing my eye softly. "-a long trip home." I sit down, leaning back against the comfy train seats. Severus, not having said a word yet, walks over quietly and sits beside me, pulling his leg up onto the seat, opening his arms. "Then let's make the best of it and sleep it away." He chuckles lightly, offering a soft smile. I take his offer and turn slowly, laying back in his arms as he encloses them around me. I close my eyes, feeling as safe as I ever could be. I take a deep breath, and on the exhale, slowly drift off to sleep. Almost instantly. Dreaming of the year to come.

"Expecto Patronum." I flick my wrist gently into the air, but the tip of my wand only sparks lightly and fizzles out. Defeated for nearly the fifth time, I feel like giving up but I know I must'n't. I square my shoulders back and stand up straighter, a bit tense as I concentrate. Just as I begin to say the charm again, I feel a gentle hand on my shoulder. I drop my hand to my side and turn, smiling cause I expect it to be Severus, only to find Potter. "Hey," James says with a chuckle, "lemme show you something." He steps closer to me without allowing me to object, placing one hand over mine gripping my wand and the other gently on my hip. I can feel my face getting red hot when his cheek almost brushes mine. In my peripheral vision, I could see his glasses protruding in front of his face, barely staying on the end of his nose. And then I can hear him speaking in his rough tone, sounding as if he had just ended puberty and he was still getting used to his deepened voice. "Relax Lily. You feel so tense." How could I relax? Potter was holding me for the first time, and it felt so right. I had to admit, I liked him. I suddenly wondered in that moment, how he felt towards me, if at all. Could we even consider each other friends, or just acquaintances? I do as he suggests and let my body relax, turning my head a little to look him in the eye. "This is supposed to help how?" He chuckles lowly. "Just watch." He shifts behind me a bit, pressing his chest against my back ever so slightly, enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I look forward to avoid eye contact, afraid he'll read me like a book. "Now Lily, I want you to think of a happy memory. Take a moment and think of a time when you were really, truly happy." Well that was easy. The day I found out my younger sister, Petunia, had written Dumbledore after I had been invited to attend, begging him to let her attend Hogwarts alongside me.
"Quit calling me a freak. That's a mean thing to say Petunia!" I yelled at her. "You and that freak from down the street, going to that school for weirdos. That's right, weirdos and freaks, that's what you are Lil'." Her smirk could curdle milk. "That's not what I heard! I know you wrote the headmaster and practically begged him to let you into Hogwarts! That's pathetic."
I couldn't stop smiing at the memory, being able to relive that moment was the victory feeling I got when Griffindore wins their quittich matches. Just amazing. "I've got it." I looked at him and I could almost see my smile reflecting in his eyes. Gorgeous. "Alright. Now say the words, and hold that memory in your head." I nod, raising my wand. "Expecto Patronum." A small wisp of white light swirls around at the tip of my wand before fading into thin air. "Crap." "No, no. That was good Lily. It's just a matter of getting the hang of it. Maybe try a different memory. One much stronger." I can feel James's thumb on the top of my hand tenderly brush my skin, sending shivers down my spine. I try to think of something much greater than one-upping my sister. "How about the time whe-" "Shh." I can feel his breath on the back of my neck. Hot. A relief from the cold of the mid-winter at Hogwarts. "No need to tell me. Just think." I take a deep breath, letting it out slowly. "Kay." I scan through the files of memories in my mind, deciding over a lot of good ones. But only one stuck out from all the rest. This moment. "Ready?" I look around at a few other students looking at us in the classroom, forcing myself to look away so I can regain my happy memory instead of the scared and shy feeling I was getting right now. "Ex-pecto..Pa-tronum." With a soft wave of my wand, a bright snowy blue aura ball takes shape at my wand's end, morphing into a small doe. My eyes widen at the sight as well as my smile does, watching my patronus doe prance around the room full of students and their own patronus charms. I look around at everyone's, smiling when my own returns to my side, evaporating in a blink of an eye. "Amazing, Lily," James says in my ear just as he pulls away and walks off, whispering over his shoulder. "Just like you." Now my heart was racing in my chest, pounding against the walls of my diaphragm. I manage a soft, shy smile, opening my mouth to say something but nothing comes.
