No, there is nothing to be said for gameplay/story segregation when you consider that TST-level gameplay Dante is stronger than cutscene Dante.
If you can't see Lady's value as a combatant than you likely haven't taken the time to learn her moves.

And even in the cutscenes, Lady still kicks everyone's shit in. That's why she is a late-game boss.
