Slightly relevant. How free can we be when it comes to world lore when creating our character? Can we, say, create other planets/galaxies if our character is an alien, or other planes/dimensions if they're supernatural? Also, slightly unrelated, should our sample post be an origin post, or a simple "non-canon" one to see how one writes? Thanks in advance and sorry for clogging up the thread. D:
Currently NSM set it up where we have pretty free range if we use common sense and try not to create rips in the fabric of time to explain how our PC got here. :p That's my understanding. Hero, Tearstone and I are literally building a whole 'close to extinction' alien race from another planet, possibly galaxy which where Rach's (virus) and Gabe's (tech) abilities stem from. The race in question has some ties to a infamous PC in the rp who has had some runs in with the police and a superhero team not that long ago IC. Though my suggestion is talk with someone if they have a supernatural/magical/other element you're interested in before jumping to creating your own right away. Mainly to see if they would be interested in you building off their base or could create a branch off. Example, if someone was interested in creating another variety of werewolf or using my breed, I would be happy as hype as a healthy kitten zipping around after a yarn string. Sample can be anything from a small free write scene (around your PC or possibly not) to your own arc start/intro to the IC. It's more or less to see your writing style and how you might mesh with the other players. It also lets some people get a feel into their PCs. I did that with Rach actually.
