In the first point, "somewhat" is the key word. You can have a fire type that learned how to resist (to some degree) water type moves. So, connecting with the rule governing moves that can be performed, they would be able to stand up to that type with relatively greater effectiveness. The second point is mostly for flavor. Dodrio can be purely normal, since it doesn't actually fly. Gogoat can be normal grass to mirror Pyroar. Florges can be fairy grass since it should be, etc. For example: my main character has a Masquerain that is bug, flying, and water that it held onto from its pre-evolution. This particular point can be argued, but this RP is simply for the story and drama, not for the typical Pokèmon mechanics. I can provide an example of how I intend battling to play out, if that would be easier for everyone to comprehend. I know the mechanics take away a lot that is Pokèmon in current gaming, but this is how I've imagined Pokèmon should really be since the third generation and I would like to play it out. Feel free to reference my character to get a further insight as to what I'm intending for Pokèmon to be (don't read the whole sheet): http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/87441-pokemon-hoenn-make-a-wish/char#post-3076798
