But more related to My Hero Academy, I guess what I meant to say is that in getting to that point where in starting to see patterns and growing bored of it. I like the side characters more because they have more interesting quirks then the main character, who embodied the usual tropes of Shonen protagonists. Inspirring, sure, but the kid feels like liscencless rider without a Saitama as a foil. There's nothing wrong with being a hero even if you're weaker, but we all know that won't stay same for long. The kid gets stronger, he gets the respect he's he's never had, probs gets the girl, etc. It's nothing new and I guess I can't fault it for using what works. Maybe I just want something more relatable and within my age range.
As someone who's been reading the manga for MHA basically since day one, I can at least assure that it's actually rather good at subverting and avoiding standard shounen tropes. The one's it does use, it uses well. Honestly probably my favorite part of the series is that fact that Izuku actually uses his brains and doesn't fall prey to the standard idiot ball. It makes the whole series much more interesting. Also Kacchan is love.
