Ok, in order.

She's using a sword because that's Rose's main weapon, and she wants to get better at it so she can use the NC's weapon more efficently, not just because of sword training. It's not a commonly used weapon in the mercenary company. I guess I did word it slightly wrong. 

I may have misread the sensitivity of a high sync rating, so if it isn't quite that active, and is more on a limb-loss basis, I will make some edits.

Rose is not a big mech. Only about nine foot in total. So a thirty foot drop in it is still quite a long one. Again, probably linked to the me misreading the sensitivity, but even still, a thirty food drop is still three times the size of the NC.

Rose has a lithe frame and superior Actuators, allowing her to hit speeds much higher than the larger, more lumbering of NCs. Combine with her Primary Function, she is a valid and even quite dangerous NC on the battlefield.
