Alright, the gist of the story is that our main characters (the heroes) are relatively new to the hero scene. Things seemed to be going well (or not so well) as solo heroes. One day, they receive a message from one of the members (you can just wing it on who it is) of the world's greatest superhero team, The Paragons, basically saying that the hero that contacted them had chosen them to be on a new team, The New Paragons.

At the same time, there were a handful of supervillains who were having a rough time. New, more powerful heroes kept popping up everywhere making it harder to make an actual living off of crime. Seeing no other choice, these unfortunate villains have begrudgingly agreed to form a team: The Outcasts.
