I'm thinking of creating a character whose father used to be a trainer but was killed by the regime when they came to take his pokemon.  My mom would have a pokemon that he gave her but no one else knew about, and she would give it to me.

a quick question, though: could you store an egg for a decade or more, or would you need to hatch it, then catch it?
